Jesus vs. Religion

Let’s compare Jesus to the Christian Religion and the secular Green Religion:

Christian Religion: Only select people have the right to tell you how to interpret what the Bible says.

Green Religion: Only select people get to see or interpret scientific data on global warming, I mean climate change.

Christian Religion: Select, anointed people tell you how to live your life, vote, and follow God’s laws which they do not have to follow themselves.

Green Religion: Select, anointed people tell you how to live your life, vote, and reduce your carbon footprint, which they do not have to follow themselves.

Christian Religion: Leaders use apocalyptic imagery to instill constant fear to control behavior and declare that Jesus will return on [insert date] and the world will end. Which, of course, does not happen.

Green Religion: Leaders use apocalyptic imagery to instill constant fear to control behavior and declare the world will become inhabitable on [insert date]. Which, of course, does not happen.

Christian Religion: Leaders either do not discuss or do not help the poor and oppressed while living a wealthy lifestyle.

Green Religion: Leaders either do not discuss or claim to help the poor and oppressed while passing policies making it more difficult for their lives while said leaders live a wealthy lifestyle.

Jesus lived the life he preached. He helped the poor and the oppressed. He defeated death. Jesus showed us a love that removes all fear. Follow Jesus, not a religion.
